As many of you may or may not know, my time at 10up (now Fueled) came to an unceremonious end back in late June as I was a part of another round of layoffs at the organization I’d given so much to for the past 10+ years. While I worked to find my next landing spot, I failed to give the time my tenure deserved, so it is with a heart full of gratitude that the sun sets on an amazing chapter of my career. The last ten years have been transformative, both professionally and personally, and I could not be prouder of the collective work we accomplished.
It’s often said that in life, success is defined by the people you surround yourself with, and for me, this couldn’t be truer. Working alongside some of the sharpest minds in our industry, from brilliant engineers who could wrestle the thorniest technical challenges into submission, to visionary designers and amazing project managers who turned complex concepts into seamless digital experiences, it was a masterclass in digital strategy and client success. We navigated the ever-shifting landscape of enterprise digital publishing and web development, turning ambiguity into opportunity while delivering lasting value for our partners.
My time as a part of the strategy team was always anchored in a core belief, that we weren’t just building websites, but rather we were cultivating strategic partnerships. Our shared journey with over dozens of partners across diverse industries from fintech to major publishing and nonprofit organizations was a continuous loop of learning, iteration, and mutual trust. At the heart of every successful project was a commitment to a mindset which forged this trust, treating complex challenges as a problem to be solved together, us versus the problem, rather than an adversarial negotiation. This required radical candor and transparency, being willing to own a misstep immediately and working collaboratively to find the right way forward. We learned that honesty about a shortfall, paired with a concrete plan to resolve it, builds far more trust and rapport than trying to oversell expertise.
This understanding and trust solidified our partnerships through shared success. We understood that if our partners were successful, then ultimately we would share in that. We framed our engagements around the impact we aimed to make along the way, not in the revenue generated or the money spent. Each time we worked with our partners it was a shared investment in the best outcomes we could achieve.
Now, as I look back, I’m deeply grateful for the partners who became friends and the colleagues who became an indispensable creative support network, folks who were willing to give and receive a gut-check, which is essential for productive outcomes. I want to thank you all for the impact you’ve made on me as a professional, and as a human.
The Sunrise: Building Account Strategy at Multidots
After a few weeks of introspection and great conversations with a variety of agencies, I’ve landed at a place which already feels like home. I’ve now been in the role of Director of Account Strategy at Multidots, a 16+ year veteran WordPress agency, for a little over a month. Multidots has long been recognized as a leading force in engineering, trusted by enterprises and publishers alike to deliver high-performance digital platforms.
What drew me to this team was the opportunity to formally build and champion account strategy and broaden the strategic mindset to translate engineering excellence into long-term client success. My role isn’t just about providing strategy, it’s about amplifying the principles of service, ownership, craftsmanship, and creativity across our team as we look to forge enduring, trust-based relationships. Leveraging the experiences gained from working closely with some of the biggest brands in the world, I’m excited to build our playbook for success in a new landscape with new partners. I’ve published a blog post at Multidots.com to help kick off this new mindset, Beyond the Build: Our Strategic Approach to Digital Partnerships.
My goal of framing this strategic mindset is to build on the proven success of working with so many amazing organizations over the years, and to cultivate the same kinds of ongoing partnerships with my new stakeholders. By bringing this foundation into play, we can collectively elevate our services and empower the full team of dots to explore opportunities within each of their projects. This isn’t just about code and pixels, it’s about serving people and solving problems with a thoughtful and kind approach. I’m eager to see this translate complex business goals into clear and actionable roadmaps for each of our partners.
The work ahead is exciting, grounded in measurable impact, and centered on the humanity of those we work with. I can’t wait to build, collaborate, and innovate with this talented team!
