To The Beach!

Shortly after we upgraded to our Class-C motorhome, we started planning a trip to one of our favorite places, the BEACH! Over the past 7 years, we’ve made a road trip to the Florida Gulf Coast, and stayed in a condo traditionally through VRBO. Given the COVID situation, we decided to leverage our newly-purchased self-contained form a travel and started to plan what would become an 8-day, 7-state, 1700+ mile road trip back to the Florida Gulf Coast.

Kami really did all the planning, and she found us some great places to stop along the way. Being new to the RV road trip thing, we were unsure of how far we would feel comfortable driving, so the first stop she lined up was a state park on the eastern board of Arkansas. The Mississippi River State Park, near Marianna Arkansas. Here’s our video from this stop…

After two nights at the Mississippi River State Park, we headed south to the Destin West RV Park. This park is located on Okaloosa Island, Florida, and offered easy access to the bay side, and a short walk across a bridge to their sister property with access to the beach on the Gulf of Mexico. We spent 4 nights at this beautiful RV park and soaked in the sun, paddle boarded, built sand castles, and splashed in the waves. Exactly what we needed as a break from reality in this strange summer of 2020. Check out our time at Destin West RV Park here…

Once we took in our allocation of salt and sand, it was time to head back home. About 7 hours away, Kami lined up a stop at Gator Grounds RV Park near Bunkie, Louisiana. Located in the middle of nowhere Louisiana, Gator Grounds proved to be the perfect end to our amazing journey. We only spent one full day here, but Ian was able to get his fill of water slides at their water park, and it left us with another 8 hour drive back home to reality. Here’s our final video from this adventure…

We hope you enjoy our journey, and come along for more of our adventures. Keep an eye out for some more Oklahoma State Park stays as we head toward our next big trip over Ian’s fall break from school.
